Aries:
Aries A+ certified courseware offers a comprehensive solution to students studying the CompTIA A+ syllabus and/or certificate 2/3 in Information Technology. A+ is a hardware and operating system syllabus generally studied by people wishing to pursue a career in computer hardware and maintenance.
Courseware:
Courseware is the training industry’s name for training manuals or training books. It is used by both training organizations for instructor–led courses and individuals for self-taught study.
Curriculum Specific Series:
The curriculum specific series has been developed to meet specific national competency guidelines for either government accreditation specifications (e.g. National Business Services Training packages) or for Industry Formal Qualifications (e.g. International Computer Drivers Licence).
Customisation:
Customisation at Watsonia Publishing means more than just adding covers and changing footers. Our customisation process allows you to manipulate the content and create your own publications. Utilising our innovative documentation tool, the EngineRoom™, we are usually able to offer a 24 hour (plus delivery) turn around service on custom content courseware. We are able to customise most Watsonia Publishing Manuals.
In Focus Series:
The In Focus series is a new and innovative range of publications developed by Watsonia Publishing. This exciting range offers more comprehensive content in a style that is easy for students to understand and digest. The In focus series is more cost effective than the Master series because each topic is self-contained. It is best used by students who have a limited or basic understanding of a computer.
Learning Guides:
A Learning Guide is a manual written specifically for a unit of study for a TAFE-level qualification or other formal qualification. The aim of each guide is to ensure that the students gain the skills required to satisfy the elements of competency as specified in the curriculum. Each Learning Guide has a corresponding Study Guide that the student can use to demonstrate the skills that they have acquired while using the Learning Guide.
Levels:
Levels are one-day training manuals that contain approximately 8 hours of content per manual. Level one covers introductory level information, while level two and three cover intermediate and advanced information respectively. Each level can be taught or worked through by a learner as a self-taught method of study.
Master Series:
Leading the field in classic step-by-step courseware, the Master Series provides detailed instructions, plentiful screen shots, and a narrative style that is perfect for those who prefer to learn by example. The large font makes it easy to read and each step is illustrated comprehensively. Its step-by-step instructions make it the perfect starting point for those students who are new to the computer.
Modules:
Modules are two-day training manuals that contain approximately 14-16 hours of content per manual. Module one covers introductory to intermediate information, while module two covers intermediate to advanced information. Each module can be taught or worked through by a learner as a self-taught method of study.
Non Curriculum Specific Series:
Any title described as Non Curriculum-Specific has been written for a particular skill level in the software application used. For example, Microsoft Word 2000 Level 3 has been written for students wishing to gain advanced skills in Microsoft Word 2000.
Student Files:
Student files are files that students can download free of charge from this website upon purchase of our Manuals, Learning Guides and/or Study Guides. Throughout our manuals students are required to use letters, memos, databases and worksheets etc. to help them understand the use of software programs in a real-world scenario. In an effort to save time - rather than have them type a large amount of data and text - students are required to open case study files. These files have been placed into a single file, which will extract all relevant materials to the student's computer. Prior to July 2003 these files were available on a floppy disk. As of July 2003 these files are available for download from the web (see ‘student file’ button on left hand column of website). Alternatively these files can be purchased on CD.
Study Guides:
Study Guides have been written as a complement to the Watsonia Publishing Learning Guides. Each guide has been specifically written for a unit of study for a TAFE-level qualification or other formal qualification. The aim of each guide is to ensure that students can demonstrate the skills required to satisfy the elements of competency, as specified in the curriculum. Each Study Guide corresponds to a specific Learning Guide that the student can use to acquire the skills they need to complete the Study Guide. Study Guides contain exercises for each chapter in the Learning Guide, as well as consolidated exercises that require the student to draw on skills from several chapters at a time, and an integrated assignment that ensures the students can employ their entire new skill set.
Teacher Resource Toolkits:
The Teacher Resource Toolkits provide an electronic version of the Study Guide, which teachers can use to adapt to create their own customized Study Guide. It contains a database of test questions together with all the solutions to the assessable and practice work set out in the Study Guide.
